Common CBD Questions

What Is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the best known and most abundant cannabinoid in hemp, one of the plants in the cannabis family which is sometimes referred to as cannabis sativa.  There are 113 identified cannabinoids.  There is ongoing scientific research but CBD may be an option for managing conditions like anxiety, insomnia and chronic pain. Unlike THC that is also sourced from certain plants in the cannabis family, CBD is not psychoactive, so it does not change a person’s state of mind when they use it.  Voyager CBD products do not contain any THC.

Will taking CBD get me high?

CBD does not get you high. CBD is a different cannabinoid to the psychoactive substance THC (which is not present in any Voyager CBD product) so it is not possible to get high from taking any of our CBD products.

Which is the best CBD product for me?

That depends on what your reason is for taking CBD.  If you are looking to help a particular part of your body then a topical application may be best and our Rosemary & Mint Muscle Salve is easy to apply and can be used to target CBD at a specific area.  Alternatively, an oral CBD product may be more suitable for general health and wellness requirements.  Our CBD Oils are easy to take and have a fresh, clean taste.  We supply them in 3 different strengths and, if you are just starting out with CBD and are not sure which is most suitable for you, we recommend starting with our 1500mg CBD Oil which comes in natural and peppermint flavours.  You can experiment taking different amounts and at different times of the day to see what works best for you but please do not exceed 70mg in any 24 hour period.

If you feel oils are not for you then our CBD Gummies are a delicious alternative and great for taking when you are on the go.  There is no hemp aftertaste  and our packs come in four fruit flavours.  At they will go through your digestive process, the CBD in gummies will not be absorbed quite as fast as in the oils.

What does CBD do?

CBD is used for a variety of different reasons and has been reported to be beneficial for people who are suffering from pain, anxiety, stress and insomnia. Research is still ongoing into all the benefits of CBD for the human body. However, what is known is that CBD, being a plant-based cannabinoid (a phytocannabinoid), is similar in structure to cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) which are naturally produced by the human body by your endocannabinoid system (ECS).  The ECS helps regulate a variety of your body’s functions including temperature, appetite and digestion, sleep, memory, mood, pain, and pleasure.

The two primary receptors that have been identified are the CB1 and CBreceptors, which are predominantly in the brain and immune system respectively.  The theory is that, by taking a phytocannabinoid such as CBD, we support our ECS which itself is important for our overall health and wellness.

It is important to note that CBD products are not pharmaceuticals and the research referred to above is not yet to a pharmaceutical standard.  In line with best practice and UK regulations, like many other CBD companies, Voyager does not make any claims about what our products will do for you.  Instead we comment on anecdotal evidence on CBD that has been publicly reported and we demonstrate to our customers through our lab reports that our CBD products are of very high quality.

Is CBD Legal?

Yes it is.  However, there are certain restrictions.  In the UK, CBD products should have no more than 1mg of THC per container and should be made from strains of hemp plants that themselves contain no more than 0.2% of THC.  This is frequently misinterpreted as allowing the product itself to contain 0.2% THC but this is not in line with current UK legislation.

All reputable suppliers will provide lab reports demonstrating they meet these limits.  If you are not sure, then ask to see them.  No Voyager CBD products contain any THC (all are 0.0%).

As from 31 March 2021, all CBD businesses in the UK must have submitted a novel food authorisation application by that date for all CBD products for human consumption. Voyager, in conjunction with its suppliers, submitted an application ahead of the deadline.  The FSA will in due course publish a list of approved products and Voyager is confident that its formulations are in compliance with these new rules.

Why are your prices so much lower than other CBD Sellers? Are your products of lower quality?

Absolutely not!  We don’t ever compromise on quality but we do have a different business model to many other CBD suppliers.

Hemp and wholesale CBD prices have fallen considerably since 2019, in some cases by over 80%, but many retailers continue to charge the same prices.  We all have costs to cover so we understand why they have to do this but Voyager CBD was set up to give customers access to the lowest possible prices and we work closely with our suppliers to ensure we can pass on these currently low hemp prices to you.  We also keep our team small and our overheads low.  That’s good news for you too – should you ever need to contact us, the person who deals with your query will be involved in every part of our business so you’ll find them knowledgeable and keen to help.

And you can be sure that our products are always of the highest quality.  We don’t cut corners to give you the best products at the best prices.  We work with reputable suppliers and provide lab reports for all of our CBD products.

Is CBD addictive?

CBD is different to THC in having no psychoactive effect and a variety of research has shown that it is not addictive.

One other theory is that our body produces cannabinoids in the ECS and therefore we can’t become addicted to something that is naturally produced in our own bodies.

Why are you called Voyager?

CBD is for life.  Research has shown that it may have many specific applications but we believe that (for example) you don’t need to wait until you are anxious, struggling to sleep or suffering from aches and pains.  We believe that people of all ages may benefit from adding CBD to their daily health and wellness routine.  You don’t need to take a lot and you can vary your dose, and the times you take it, according to your personal requirements.  But it will keep you company in your voyage through life.

What is CBD isolate?

CBD Isolate is 99% pure cannabidiol which has literally been isolated from other cannabinoids contained in hemp plants.  With impending UK and EU regulations, it is becoming the most popular, and dependable, form of taking CBD as its pure form simplifies the testing process.

What is the difference between hemp & Marjiana?

Hemp and marijuana are different species of cannabis sativa plants. Industrial hemp is exclusively produced by Cannabis sativa, while marijuana can be derived from Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica.

Both hemp and marijuana contain CBD, but there’s a much higher percentage in hemp. Hemp also has much lower levels of THC than marijuana plants.

Hemp plants tend to be larger and stronger but their chemical profile means that you can’t get “high” from it, and it is used to create medicinal remedies, food and oil, as well as other products, including rope, bricks, natural polymers, fibre, clothes and many more.

Marijuana strains of cannabis are typically smaller, flimsier plants and have many more flowering buds. Marijuana is used recreationally and medicinally only.

How much CBD should I take?

This depends on a variety of factors.  Firstly the UK government advises that a person takes no more than 70mg of CBD in a 24 hour period.  All of our products make it clear on their label how much, according to their strength you should take in this period.

However, we are all made differently so what works well for one person is not necessarily the right answer for you.  If you are new to CBD then we recommend you start with a lower dose and, if necessary, build up from there.  Depending on your reasons for taking CBD, you may well find that smaller amounts achieve your desired effect.

We are not doctors or medically qualified but we are always happy to discuss different options with you.  Just send us an email or give us a call if there is anything you are not sure about.

How does CBD make you feel?

Everyone’s response to CBD will be different. Many people report feeling more relaxed after taking CBD products and for this reason it has become popular for managing stress, anxiety or insomnia. CBD is different to THC (and none of our products contain any THC) so taking CBD will not get you “high”.

How long does CBD take to work and how long does it last?

This really depends on your choice of product, what strength of CBD it contains and how you take it. If you take CBD oil, evidence suggests that you should start to feel the benefits between 1 to 6 hours later.  Holding the oil under your tongue before swallowing accelerates the absorption into your body so this may speed up that time.

CBD gummies on the other hand take longer to be broken down in your digestive system so may have a slower effect.

Once CBD enters your body, it needs to interact with proteins in your body and central nervous system for the effects to be felt.

The lasting effects of CBD will also depend on the type and strength of the product but 2 – 6 hours seems to be a typical estimate.  However, there are reports of longer periods, particularly by those who take CBD to aid their sleep.  Research also suggests there is a cumulative effect of taking CBD and that it becomes more effective if taken on a regular basis.
