With so many gimmicks and myths about CBD circulating online, it can be difficult to sift through the noise and get the honest truth about CBD. At Voyager, we value being transparent with our use of CBD. This blog will dispel the common myths about CBD so you can have all the facts when choosing your CBD.

Myth One

CBD will get you high.

While CBD may come from the same plant that contains the psychoactive component THC, it does not have the same effects. CBD will not give you the high feeling and can be used daily without inhibiting your daily actions like going to work or driving. Although CBD does not make you “high”, many people say it helps boost their mood and soothe anxiety. This is because CBD interacts with our own endocannabinoid system in our bodies. It helps to boost the endocannabinoid called Anandamide which is the same relief-inducing chemical released after a good workout.

Myth Two

CBD is addictive.

The World Health Organisation have studied the dependence on CBD and have stated there is no potential addiction to it. CBD has also been researched for signs of withdrawals and came out as not showing any signs of withdrawal.

Fun Fact: when given to nicotine-addicted rats, cannabinoid oil was found to help reduce withdrawal symptoms! (Psychopharmacology (2021))

Myth Three

CBD is illegal.

CBD is legal in the UK and heavily regulated. CBD is legal if it contains less than 0.2% THC; however, when tested, Voyager’s CBD contains 0.0% THC. CBD must come from a UK approved industrial hemp plant strain. CBD supplements must be labeled correctly in regulations with the food supplement regulation 2003. Voyager makes sure to stay within UK regulations for CBD to ensure all of our products are not only safe to use, but within the law.

Myth Four

You will feel it straight away.

CBD takes time to build up in the system. It may give some relief short term but for best use, it should be taken over a long period of time to build up in the body’s endocannabinoid system.

CBD also reacts differently to each person. It depends on how your own body metabolises it. Some people may feel the effects of CBD a lot sooner rather than others who may metabolise it slower and need more time to build up in their system.

Another factor on the speed at which CBD will affect someone is the method in which they consume it. Taking CBD Oil underneath the tongue is the fastest way to absorb CBD into the system. Taking a CBD supplement like the Voyager CBD Gummies which have a slower release into the system, which can sometimes be beneficial, if you want a slower, longer effect.

Myth Five

You can get organic CBD.

This truth is much more complicated than that. While you can get CBD from an organic hemp plant( as we do at Voyager), the process in which CBD is taken from said plant is not organic. CBD can be extracted using CO2, ethanol, and other solvents making its process not organic.

Therefore, when searching for CBD, the emphasis should be on the organic components of the product like the hemp plant instead of the CBD itself because it can not be categorically organic. All our CBD products are lab tested and from these reports you can see that there are no heavy metals in our products, these would appear if artificial fertilisers and pesticides were used when it was grown.

Voyager uses 100% organic hemp to obtain our CBD. We also use 100% organic hemp seed oil in our CBD free products.

Myth Six

Hemp Seed oil and CBD are the same.

Hemp seed oil has little to none cbd content in it. It is also made in a different process to CBD. While CBD is extracted with CO2 extraction, hemp seed oil is made from hemp seeds cold pressed into oil. Its natural process allows hemp seed oil to be organic and a great supplement for animals. This is why we use it in our pet products.

Another difference between the two is that hemp seed oil is made from the plant’s seeds while CBD is made from the leaves, flowers, and stalks of the plant.
